BMW Xenon: Exceptionally Popular Headlights

by Rand Stuck

Many people might be recognizing that headlights they see on the roads are tinted in a variety of colors. They might not know that these are not fashion statements by the drivers but are actually xenon headlights. With xenon headlights, the color of light varies with the brightness of the bulb, which is measured in Kelvin.

These BMW xenon lights are especially popular on the new BMW's. The different colors of the bulbs not only look great, but cause less glare for the oncoming driver with more visibility for the person that is driving the BMW. When you are looking for BMW lighting for your BMW, you will want to find out which of these bulbs is best for you.

Xenon lights are offered in several different hues that are each compatible with the bulbs' brightness. The lights range from 6,000 to 12,000 Kelvin degrees. Standard halogen lights give a brightness of 4,300 degrees Kelvin and throw off a slight yellowish glow. Ultra white bulbs are 4,800 degrees Kelvin and, as the name might imply, are an extremely brilliant white. The intensely blue Xenon lights were found to be 6,000-8,000 Kelvin degrees. These bulbs are all authorized for automobile use in the United States.

Two other varieties of xenon BMW headlights are available for purchase, though they cannot be used to drive on regular roads in any American state. These are the purple BMW xenon lights, which are adjusted to 10,000 degrees Kelvin, and the bright green BMW xenon lights, which are measured at close to 12,000 degrees Kelvin. These two types are primarily employed for show or display cars, and are far too bright to use on the highway in typical driving conditions.

There is the possibility that xenon bulbs will not work in your car. Fortunately, it is possible to locate packages that allow their use in older vehicles. You may even wish to purchase such a "conversion kit" for no other reason than to update the look of an old car.

Xenon headlights are especially safe as the different tints make the lights stand out. Nobody would be able to say "That car came out of nowhere!" because lights draw attention to the vehicle. While the bulbs themselves may be a bit more pricey, they are well worth the investment.

The xenon lights are an especially popular feature of the new BMWs. The varied bulb colors not have a great look to them, but they also produce fewer glares for oncoming drivers, and greater visibility for the BMW driver. The vivid green bmw xenon lights come in at 12,000 degrees Kelvin and the violet xenon lights are measured at 10,000 Kelvin degrees. Xenon bmw headlight has a different color than an ordinary light so they tend to be more visible to other drivers. Any of the xenon lights used for bmw lighting are legal for driving anywhere in the fifty states.
