Choosing Your Business Concept
Working out what your niche market will be to start your home business is something that can elicit much excitement. This is when you can put all those great ideas you have had for your business into a plan of action. In order to choose your business idea, give yourself some choices. Sometimes one idea will not work and you will need to have some back up ideas.
Three sources of ideas:
- Your hobby: If you have something you love to do it is very likely that it is something you can build a business out of. Choosing something that you are passionate about and love to do will help you to enjoy your business. There are very few hobbies that you cannot build a business around.
- Life experiences: Let's say you have raised five kids. That could give you enough experience in the field of parenting to start some kind of business along those lines and that will be your niche.
- Talents: Maybe you have a particular talent which could make a great freelance business. Search to see what yours are and how they could become a business for you.
Defining your niche market:
1. List out some ideas then put them in the order of what you like the best.
2. Try using the overture suggestion tool at the below site to enter a key word and do a search:You will then see how many searches were done for that word and thus will know the demand.
3. Put your same keyword into Google search engine. This will bring up any websites related to the keyword and will represent supply.
4. Find an item that is in high demand but of low supply, and you'll have your niche market right there. You'll make money! With a niche market, you can reduce the competition and perhaps can even do away with it. Narrow your list down to about five markets, then go through the list again. Figure out which one would fit into a niche market for you.
Establishing your USP:
Once you have your market picked out, you will need to work out your USP or Unique Selling Point. This is the thing that makes your product different than all the other similar products out there. Often neglected, finding the USP is something that new business owners need to do to set their item above the competition. Online businesses are very competitive and you have to stay ahead of the game.
It's vital to set yourself up as much different from your competition and here are two reasons why:
1. Beat out the competition
2. Let your customers know why your product or service is better than others provided.
Deciding on your business model:
You not only will have to have your concepts put into some plan, but you need to choose the model you will follow, a few of which are:
- Affiliate marketing-Getting involved with affiliate programs will target your efforts
- Network marketing (MLM)- again this will target your market and idea.
- Marketing-selling a product
- Service- using your talents. This will also include doing freelance work.
So you see that there are a few things to do in order to get your concept off the ground. And you should take the time and effort needed to build the foundation of your business and thus your future.
