Want to start a home business online?But how do you get started?

Don't worry, you see I was there but have since found out what is important and what iisn't...but only after buying $1,000's of ebooks, software, members only subscriptions...ad nauseum and sitting in front of the computer for 10-14 hours everyday, including Sundays, and yanking my hair out and losing my health...ensure to get up and walk every hour at least or you might find yourself with a DVT and PE (Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism, I had both).

It can be prevented with a little effort

Here is an abridged explanation of my earlier journey to internet marketing and a home business. I found a desktop publishing adult ed class. It was cheap and that is the sole computer course they offered at that time. This demonstrates how long ago I began my home based business, doesn't it?

Following the critical step of learning how to turn on a computer, yes I learned on a mac at the school, then eventually had to re-learn a pc, I started attempting to figure out what kind of website to design and what content to put on it.

As with most back then Online Marketing was the prime focus for a topic to attack. Don't do it! You won't be able to compete with the 1,000's of whales... as in very large animals that are called 'guru's or marketing experts. There is a ton of competition in Internet Marketing and your life will be one of severe frustration in trying to outdo these IM guru's. They have the money, savvy and extra help to make superior products and know how to promote them. Plus they collude with each other in a joint venture, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but in too many cases it is. Aren't you tired of seeing the same email ad from 30 different marketers?

Here is my suggestion, research an easy to work with program to design a web site. There are free one's out there but they aren't that easy to use. SiteBuildIt! is the finest for anyone just starting out. I used it when it was first offered and found it to be an incredible tool that not only built a great looking page but optimized it for the Search Engines, and now easily adds video (which is very hot). Even if you aren't a newbie.

Finally, ensure you select a niche that has an adequate amount of searches and has under 100,000 results. You can do this manually or use other tools that might cost a bit. I have a list of these tools on the page below.

Whatever you do, ensure you keep focused and don't get distracted or some other b.s.

Spend a few bucks and most critical get to work.

If you don't spend the food money, and if not, this home based business will make you wonder why you hadn't started before. Trust me, you won't regret it!
